Another Day in San Antonio

Sometimes there is so much to see that we have to plan just one activity a day.  Yesterday was the historic Market place and today was the "Pearl " area.

This historic market place was, well, lack luster.  All of the vendors sold the exact same thing.  The restaurants were different .  Some were very mexican, some were tex-mex, some were bakeries!  We did happen to eat a very nice restaurant and chose to eat outside.  The food was excellent and I ate every little bit!

OMG. This was amazing

The "Pearl" area was a brewery that has been renovated into a marketplace.  Some stores were very upscale and some were selling trinkets.  Lots of upscale restaurants and also a food court.  We also came across an old diner - Full Goods and the Culinary Arts of America school.  Their restaurant is called Savor.   We may try that tomorrow!

Beach Camping!

On item on our bucket list was to camp on the beach! Well this year we were able to do this on a couple of beaches, on the Gulf of Mexico.  The sand was pretty hard packed and was drivable and campable .

Probable the most wonderful thing we have done with the camper!  Looking out at the surf, listening to the sounds of the waves at night, having the breeze coming in through the windows like a natural air conditioning!  I give it a 10+.

I also just figured out to make a slideshow of some of the photos I have taken!  wahoo!  Check this out

Columbus Texas

One the places we stopped and toured was Columbus Tx.  Just a small little town with some historic sites within a block of each other.

This is the largest live oak in Texas!

We stayed in a Thousand Trails campground called Columbia River RV and campground.  This has to be, by far, the nicest campground that we have stayed in.  We had a concrete slab to park on, large site and best of all, morning visitors!

Off the Beaten Path!

I may have mentioned this before.   We often take non highway roads, that way we get to see the state we are in.  We get to see the housing, the agriculture, the school fields and the churches.

Today we were driving around the campground and took a ride to the river, Medina River.  There is a new owner of this campground as of 3 years ago.  There have been come changes, no more long horns grazing in the pastures nears us, and a new office. It is obvious that a brand new expansion of camping sites is in the future.  It will be lovely.  The most wonderful part of this expansion is the natural river setting , the well trodden trails, and the peace and quiet that is already there

This is the road less travelled!

Just look at those roots

I defy anyone to be stressed sitting in this setting!  :)

The Alamo San Antonio Tx

While I am trying to still catch up on our wonderful adventures, I thought I may as well keep current as well when I have the internet.

We are at a place called Alamo River RV and campground.  It is in Von Ormy TX about 10 miles south of San Antonio.  We have been in better places and some much worse.  The Alamo River is a bit of a hike in the campground and really not something I really want to do in 86 degree heat is hike!  :)

There is a rescue dog farm behind us.  About 75 yards.  there Dogs barking, whining, howling almost 24/7.  Withe the A/C on I can only hear the very loud birds.  Come night fall, well bark, bark, bark.....  so much so that I had barking dogs in my dreams!!  Tonight I will turn on a loud fan!!:)

We went to the Alamo today March 26, 2023 .  Impressive.  We went early so it was still cooler and a little overcast.  Perfect.  Gene talked to the Alamo Rangers.  (of course!)  We saw a couple of character actors talking about that was happening.  :)  The grounds were beautiful.  A compliment of shade and sun.  Not too crowded but steady.

We also had lunch outside at the Crockett Tavern was listened to a country music player!  Sang some great songs including Friends in Low places, and Tennessee Whiskey  💔.

East Coast Of Mobile Bay - Alabama

Generally we Like to stay off the beaten path. Sometimes we just pick a road and drive down it. A couple of times we have come to small parks on the bay or rivers, sometimes it ends up in someone's driveway! This time we got lucky and meet a man who told us about the small park in his neighbor hood and one just down the road. Here are a few shots
