Wonderful Adventures

I mentioned that we joined Harvest Host.  So far it has been a wonderful experience.

We have stayed at a horse farm, a lavender farm, county park and a county museum .

after we stayed in Suwanne Farms we when on to explore along the coast .  We ended up in apalachicola for the afternoon and then for the night.

First lunch.

After Lunch we toured the little town of Apalachacola.    We stayed overnight in the city park near the marina.  Lovely view of the boats.

This was very secure and the city police patrolled all night.  Just the sounds of the water lapping against the moorings.  So awesome!

Then we went west towards Panama City.  This morning was very foggy

Harvest Host

So a couple of days ago, we joined an organization called Harvest Host. it has a yearly fee and it allows you to access the app or the web site to locate a site that will allow you to stay overnight on their property.  Some of them are farms, some wineries, some golf courses.  There are also museums, libraries, golf courses, and churches.  What a fantastic idea!

The first night was a a farm.  Suwanee Farm.  It was about 5 acres with horse corals and just open land

Andrew and his collie, Laddie, were the perfect host.  Showed us where to go and told us to feel free to walk the land.

Walkabout Farm & Campground

Walkabout  Farm & Campground  , Woodbine GA

Not someplace that we will book again.  $40.00 a night and that is with a discount!  There is barely enough room between sites to let out the slides.  The ground is dirt, a little gravel, no picnic tables....

The ground is wet and in some places, muddy.

We did have a nice drive coming here.  Good tunes, clear weather.  We even saw some small black hogs along the side of the road.

Papa loves his alligators!  This is in the Welcome Center for Georgia

I met a friend!  Hey Forrest!

The Oaks at Point South - Yemassee SC

This is an out of the way campground in Yemassee , SC.  Very wooded, pull thru sites and full hookup.  This place is a little "tired". The leaves are still on the ground, and after two days of rain, the ground is very wet.

When we first pulled in, a "crazy lady"  drove into the site next to us , waving her arms saying that we were in her site!!!!  They had been flooded out in their site and the "office" gave them site # 73.

As she ran to the office, she was yelling,"Don't unhook, don't unhook, that is our site!!"

Eventually she came back and realized that she was going into site #74. :)  Very contrite, she and her husband moved to the ite next to us

some nice walkways and a lake.

Oh did I mention fire ants?  This is an ant hill that we found walking.  Fire Ants are all over the south

Myrtle Beach

We have "landed" in Myrtle Beach SC.   Nice so far.

This "RV Resort" is nice, well ok.  it is a concrete haven.  each site is on a level concrete slab which is very nice.    Nice walking around, boat dock, big pool (not open yet)

It is a little noisy d/t the highway.

We drove to North Myrtle Beach.  It was a nice beach but the area around was just like any other beach side resort with  all of the high rise condos and limited access to the shore.

It was nice to walk on the beach.  It was a little windy but it was 50+ degrees and the sun was warm!  The beach is always good for the soul.  :)

Sycamore Lodge Jackson Springs North Carolins

Really beautiful campground.  The pinecones are huge!  There is a picture of one that is the size of my sneaker!!

I have been walking around the pond and campgrounds every day now!  About 2 miles of lovely pine trees.

We had hoped for warmer weather.  The second night here it got cold and the pipes froze.  Gene thought he was able to thaw the pipes without any trauma but noooo.  Off to the hardware store for some clamps.  Did that work?  nope!  The pipe system is called Plex and special tools are needed. Ordered some from Amazon but they are not due in for a couple of days.

Camping people are really the most helpful and friendly.  On one of my walks, I talked to someone who knew someone who knew a mobile tech!  I went to the site where he was working and as soon as he was finished with the job , he would take a look.    His name was Keith and was super nice. Had all of the tools, parts and pieces.  He fixed it in short order.  $75 for peace of mind!!

New Year, New Adventure

 Hello All!

On the road again!  Gene had some health issues that prevented us from leaving around Thanksgiving but, all is well and we left Massachusetts on Tuesday January 10 2023.

We stayed in Suffron New York on the first night and in  Salisbury , NJ on the second night.  Tonight we are staying in a welcome Center rest stop at the base of the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel Bridge.  Quiet, facing the wooded reserve.

These are the comfy rockers outside the welcome center!
